Each year there are about 4m Roadworks in England and Wales costing an estimated £4.2bn.

Roads are dug up to repair utilities (gas, water, electricity, telephone or cable) or install new services, to fix nearly 1m potholes, resurface roads and for new road designs and safety systems. Roadworks are unavoidable and Utilities and their contractors are under pressure to plan and coordinate the work with other Utilities to minimise disruption to traffic whilst at the same time maintaining high availability of services to customers.

Roadworks Online brings together live information on roadworks (also known within the industry as streetworks) from Local Authorities and Utilities to show you what work is currently being undertaken in your area, why and by which organisation. The symbols on the map indicate the extent of the disruption to traffic flows (lane closed, contra flow, road closed, traffic lights, boards) to help you to anticipate delays to your journey.

Roadworks Online is a service from Bentley Systems, Incorporated in collaboration with Local Authorities and Utilities.
